I find that when I suggest tutoring to people, they are hesitant. Much of this comes from a lack of teaching background and not really understanding how remote tutoring works. But tutoring is more than just one on one video chats. It is also grading and scoring paperwork.
To those that are wanting to chat with students, there are a couple of companies that I rec'd. The first is Cambly. This is a 1099 platform where native English speakers help international students improve their speaking skills. This is done via chatting or lessons that Cambly supplies to you.
Another really good company to join is Preply. For tutors on Preply the student is given a first lesson as a trial then buys a subscription for that tutor. Unlike Cambly, Preply tutors set their own lesson prices.
